Introduction
VI International Conference for World Balance
The VI International Conference for World Balance stands as an esteemed platform devoted to
fostering meaningful discussions, cultivating partnerships, and formulating actionable strategies
to propel us towards a more equitable and just global community. Organised by the Office of the
Martí Program and co-sponsored by UNESCO and Soka Gakkai International, this conference
serves as a wellspring of inspiration and a catalyst for transformative initiatives, drawing
together an assembly of international leaders, advocates, scholars, and trailblazers united in the
shared pursuit of human advancement.
International Coalition of Humanity (ICoH)
The Commission of International Coalition of Humanity (ICoH) programme is a space within the
VI Conference that aspires to bring together a wide spectrum of international advocates,
organisations, and communities to deliberate on and enhance humanitarian initiatives. Founded
on principles like equality, solidarity, and joy, ICoH champions a diverse community dedicated to
comprehensive societal change. In line with the ethos of the VI Conference, ICoH’s mission
transcends geographic boundaries, uniting people in efforts to uplift communities, protect the
environment, and foster sustainable growth. As an agent of positive change, ICoH embodies
responsibility and stewardship, working towards a balanced world where every life is valued.

A Detailed Look at the Conference:
Before International Coalition of Humanity:
It was great to see how Havana was getting ready for the “VI International Conference for World Balance 2025”. Together with 8one Foundation, we at Ecocivilisation took organisational responsibility over one and a half days at the conference under the subtitle “International Coalition of Humanity (ICoH)”, where much of the content focused on regenerative economy, permaculture, and food and water self-sufficiency.
We were proud of our local colleagues and partners in Cuba, who, together with our coordinator Karthika Sajeev, engaged in actions as part of the pre-conference activities. We also visited them as part of the conference program.

Day 1
We arrived in ever evolving and transforming Cuba. One can see immediately a difference: more cars, some new, more little private stores that sell few items, corner fruit and veggies stands. But we are here in this pre-conference period, to support a gardening concept in Havana.
In the morning we stoped by at the pilote project that we initiated, got our hands dirty and helped a bit. However, without the devoted locals, it woud never have happened. Now the first veggies are in the ground, beds made and soon, a few trees will be planted as well. Hopefully a prototype for more.

From dreams, to crystallisation of ideas, and to delivery in five months, the community garden in Havana was officially opened. Beds were made, vegetables were planted, a fruit tree was planted, and many local people were present along with international guests at the grand opening! We all felt really humbled, at peace, and connected.
“Soil is the soul of the planet, connecting to the soul of humanity, connecting to our hearts and minds to be able to do what feels right. The experience was worth all the effort.”

Day 4:
Day 4 was all about communities, self-organisation, and collaboration. It was simply amazing how diligently circular economy and regenerative economy were practiced there. It was a place where the world could come and learn from. At the core was humanity at its best: compassion, love, respect, and dedication. We were grateful to everyone who opened up their homes, gardens, and circles.

Day 1: International Coalition of Humanity
Our First Global Ecocivilisation Gathering – live, Havana 2025.

Day 2:
The day was dedicated to discussions on civilisational paradigm, humanity and living cases from around the world. The emergence of new, gravitating towards a more conscious, responsible and inclusive ecocivilisation was present on all continents, empowering people to do what felt right, seeking the balance within the humanity and within the planetary consciousness.
Day 3:
The third day of the Global Balance conference focused on the Coalition of Humanity, organised by Ecocivilisation and 8one Foundation. The entire day of round tables and inspiring stories from around the world (South Africa, Bolivia, Chile, Cuba, Slovenia, Germany, Scotland, Austria, Belgium, India) kept the delegates fully engaged. Ecocivilisation, as an emerging civilisational paradigm, was an overarching topic that was well received and embraced as a shared dream unfolding.

Last day:
Our last official day at the International Conference for World Balance in Havana. Another day of engagements of the Coalition for Humanity was organised by 8one Foundation and Ecocivilisation:
- Engaging Cities by Marina Demchenko, Ph.D., Ecocivilisation Russia, Living Cities Earth
- Communities of Practice by Valerie Cathrin Voggenreiter, GFZ Potsdam
- Planet A by Indra Adnan, Ecocivilisation GB
- Marta Rodrigues, Aqua Stella Havana, Cuba
- How to ensure quality drinking water around the world, Durga Das, Aeronero Solutions
- International collaboration for peace and solidarity, Jonathan Schwestka, Europe - Asia Center
- Plenary closing session: Declaration of the Coalition for Humanity by Dr. hc. Violeta Bulc

Cuba was a unique lab where circular economy and regenerative economy were fully implemented out of necessity and dedication to live in harmony and balance with nature.

Alternative Editorial: Another World by Indra Adnan
Violeta Bulc’s closing speech
We had our members from 16 countries come to Cuba to join this inovativen space, including from Germany, Slovenia, United States, India, Scotland, South Africa, Russia, Chile, Bolivia, Australia, Austria, Cuba, Switzerland, Serbia, Canada and Venezuela.
And while we were here it was our pleasure to align with the rest of the 98 countries and over 1900 delegates thatwere represented here. What a diversity, what an achievement.
During these four days, the International Coalition of Humanity, focused on discovering a shared vision for a new civilizational paradigm, possibly an Ecocivilisation, where the world ensures a balance between human needs and our ecosystem, and stops the abuse of our beautiful planet Earth.
Cuba is unique in many ways. Not only is it openly hosting real conversations on societal and civilizational potentials, including Ecocivilisation, it is also a living lab on basic transformative economical models such as circular economy, on regenerative economies, and economies of limited resources. In spite of the unjustified economic and social sanctions on Cuba, Cuba continues to lead the way for these concepts, not out of a trend but out of necessity and for sustainable co-existence.
We agree with our friend Ramit’s words that the world needs Cuba more than Cuba needs the world. We need Cuba to be successful in order to show that an equal world is possible.
Please allow me to conclude with sharing with you some tangible commitments:
1. We commit to return to our respective countries and sharing our experience about the essence of Cuba, its resilience, sustainability and love, something often missing in the western world. So that people can see how a country which has been declared a state sponsor of terrorism, is the absolute opposite.
Cuba is a state sponsor of global collaboration, resilience, respect and peace.
2. We commit to continue encouraging even more countries to join us at the next conference, because humanity is representative of all of us, and we must strive to be inclusive in our conversations.
3. We commit that we will continue our work on the ground that we showcased here, including with respect to food security, clean drinking water from the atmosphere, inclusive public spaces, community driven projects, capacity building and the active promotion of an Ecocivilisation on the wings of humanity and aligned with the spirit of our planet.
4. Finally, we commit to work on all these commitments together and formally establish the International Centre of Humanity before we return here in 2027. We invite all of you who would like to join us as part of our efforts, to please reach out to us and discuss how we can collaborate towards building a better world.

After Cuba 2025
After Cuba 2025, the entire group was finally back home, and the memories of the International Conference for World Balance created a new level of awareness and a new dimension in understanding the diversity of geopolitical reality. We were ready for the next step in our global collaboration. Preparations for a global NGO – Coalition of Humanity were more than just a necessary step; they were a chance to prototype fresh ideas for global collaboration among people who care.

And the story continues to evolve….
We are delighted to see that fruitful engagements with local communities in Cuba continue to deliver tangible results. Community gardens continue to evolve and bring joy and purpose to many. Together we thrive!
